Wow References Via Visual Very Cool

Worthwhile reading comes from many sources. Right now my participation in a service called Shelfari is limited, but the concept seems laudable, a listing of what a person is reading. It visually portrays the readings you are involved in and shows folks what you are consuming. It's a marvelous visual to reference great reads. Long ago I learned that those who are highly educated read not only a lot, but they read differently than others- they read, selectively. Here is a book which was referenced from a movie, I was curious as to whether or not it was a valid reference, so often Hollywood doesn't get the references correct, nonetheless, it is a valid reference it seems and worthwhile reading, see what you think about it? Also it seems we've beaten Chris Voss to a new gadget? Hmm check it out?

Andrew Koenig - Suicide

Reports from different sources indicated that Andrew Koenig was discovered a suicide in Vancouver British Columbia, view report here. We are saddened by this, as we would be by anyone who leaves us in such a way, but, we can hope for respectful results, that those who need to sample learning to go on from such, can. More as this develops.

NEXT

Weird cars, sometimes we see them, and we do that double take, "did I really see what I think I just saw?" Showin' my age here, the first Batman(c)*, when Adam West was the star, on T.V., there was the Batmobile- man we thought that car was cool beyond cool- and folks would see it in Hollywood and just get nuts about waving at it and the like. One time at a meeting at a resort there was a very wealthy and powerful man who had a car that had a Rolls Royce back end and a Cadillac front end, the car was absolutely strange but beautiful, on the license plate it read:

NEXT

Which he explained was his theory of management, that if someone didn't want to do it, didn't want to do it correctly, or just didn't want to follow the leader, then look beyond that situation by asking "next?" So the question he said that keeps you moving in everything from business, to life, is, next- so in your life, whats next? In your success, what's next? In your love life, what's next? Stale job, what's next? Stale money maker, what's next? Stock sucks, what's next? Real estate won't sell today, what's next? WHAT IS NEXT is what gets you to SUCCESS!

You Idiot

Why would anyone choose to be unhappy? Why would they choose to be, on the other hand, happy? What drives a person emotionally to make choices? That's a bit deep isn't it- because while you're thinking, "Dana you aren't making any sense here...," somewhere inside your heart, nonetheless, you know precisely the choices which you have made, and are making, and why- but perhaps, what you think is why you are making them, isn't really why, it is what you have told yourself you are going to believe! This is the toughest of self examination issues as we have a real strong tendency to gloss over - to push to a different than real level, the hard choices which we have to make. When you are in relationships which are good, you feel it, you don't have to think about it, you don't even have to put on any airs, just being with the person is so darn much fun that you can't hardly stand it, you want to be with them, because it's so much of a great time for you; it might be said that the relationship is good for you? Why then would you choose to walk away from such a relationship? "Dana do you really mean there are people who would walk away from joy?" Great point and the answer is, amazingly, yes, and they have the most amazing reasons for such that you've ever heard, but usually it boils down to their concern about their life and the future that they will have. This is interesting because the future, doesn't exist except in someone's imagination- just as the past has taken place and is over, and you cannot, as yet, go back there; and even if science does come up with some super space time travel machine, when you get back there, back there may not be the back there that you went through...so, geez, the past is a place of thought, for maybe lessons to be learned, but otherwise, it's useless. That leaves today- we get today, we get to choose to do good things, be with good people and enjoy life, today- or, we can choose some other courses of action, hoping that the future we envision will happen; nothing wrong with that, what is wrong, really, deadly wrong, is to force the present into unhappiness in your life based upon the myth of the past or the future- don't be the person that somebody would say "you idiot." to about a chance to enjoy something now that you passed up. Of course I'm a fine one to talk...

Business School? Life In Progress?

One of my all time favorite sets of writings is the series "The Sopranos," my other set of favorite writings is "The West Wing," both carry a large wallop in terms of over all power. Life and business are wrapped into a package that Sun Tzu said is war, trouble is, business is usually taught as something else, and therefore, those who speak of leveraging and credit enhancements and buyouts of assets, are getting those who listen to buy into the big lie. Here is the big lie, people will buy whatever you market well. That's a lie - and to prove that, look at what people will buy? People bought the show "The Sopranos," when in three distinct polls over 75% of America, and 68% of the planet claim a God set of values morals and beliefs, which run entirely contrary to what is acted out in this extremely well written show. That is why people bought it, it was good, better by anyone's standard than just about anything out there, and what sold "The Sopranos," word of mouth from one person who watched and was amazed, from person to person the network took off; and that is why business school is a life in progress; you're in it, right now. What sold "The West Wing," the same exact experience, sure ads are made, we all know about promos, but eventually what you and I listen to most is what our friends and associates tell us they are looking at, watching, or getting into. It is why you are reading this, you are beginning to suspect that your old buddy the doc may in fact have something to share that will help you when it comes to your business, want to know something funny, that's what you are telling your friends, all over the world, want to know something even funnier, that's what is making this writer into a writer- it's not what I write, it's what you read, it's not what I say, it's what you want to hear said, it's not what I study, it's how you feel that applies to you. Business is war and the truest form of business is warfare and you my dear reader are my warriors!

Beginning And Moving Beyond Average

What does it mean to be average? Its not a bad thing at all, I've run some numbers on my friends who do moderately succesful online businesses and they are chartnig down anywhere from 15K to 70K or more per month. That by anyones standards is a fine average - they aren't the spectacular ones. So I'll take that average and raise you one, and be extremely happy, how about you?

But we aren't given to thinking average, usually we are given to thinking "being number one," and that thinking is wonderful, it encompasses a lot of growth and personal adventure, so go with it as a basic philosophy. Number one is fine, but don't let it get frustrating to you, what happens when the frustration sets in, is mistakes. When you make these sorts of mistakes it costs you, and none of us can afford to make those sorts of mistakes, so stay linked in to number one as a base way of looking at things, but don't let it become everything to you.

The beginning of your adventure is very important so for the next few posts we just want to sort of dwell on what beginning your business will be like. A great lady I know had no idea where she was going to begin her business at, we chatted for about three days off and on, at the end of which she produced what is now a very successful business venture. My hats off to her, she says that my guidance was a help, and my sense is that perhaps such is the case, she brags on me, but really she is the one who got things going, my part was a guide, a way of bringing experience to the mix, it may prove helpful to you so do come back as we have always more fresh content for you to consider.
